In this Blog post I’m going to discuss 5 Reasons Every Network Marketer Needs to Build A List.


More than likely when you joined your network marketing company one of the first activities you were asked to do was “make a list of everyone you know” your warm market list.


That was your inventory and was used to launch your business.


For many newbies this becomes a stumbling block right out of the gate.


They either don’t have a large warm market or have already approached their market several times with other opportunities and do not want to go there once again.


So what happens to their budding business….nothing! It never gets off the ground.

‘The Money is in the List’


Yet, over and over and over you hear top network marketers say “the money is in the list”.


So what do they mean?


Obviously they are not talking about your warm market list…


What they are referring to is to build an email list of people who give you PERMISSION to communicate with them about your product or business.


Interestingly enough, this type of list building is not a topic covered by many network marketing companies.


In this Blog post I’m going to discuss 5 Reasons Every Network Marketer Needs to Build A List.


Building a list and creating relationships with that list is one of the most important asset building activities you can do for your business, whether your marketing strategy is offline or online.


There are compelling reasons as to why every Network Marketer needs to build a list but before we get into that…


What is List Building?


Let’s begin by defining what we mean by to build a list


A simple way to define it would be – it is a process of developing a database of like minded people online who would be interested in the kind of products, services or opportunity that your business offers.


And you have the opportunity to develop a relationship with them.


The premise behind list building is that once a potential customer has opted in and given you permission to send them your ongoing communication,  you can keep sending them information via email on your products or services.


And continue to educate them on specials and discounts.


The more frequently they are exposed to the information the more familiar your business will appear to them.


The more you develop a relationship with them,  the more likely they will buy from you.


This leads us to the reasons why every network marketer needs to build this list


1. You Are Building An Asset You Own
         


Your email list is one of the few true business assets that you Building An Asset Your Own“own” and can take  with  you  no matter what happens…let me explain…


Things happen.


Facebook decides to close down your account, your website may get hacked and a lot of the content lost, search engines may one day decide they no longer love you and stop sending you free traffic.


Something may happen your network marketing company and they may be forced to close their doors…we have seen it happen too many times.


Murphy’s Law holds true…. Anything that can go wrong will eventually go wrong. But if you’ve focused on building a list, and have a relationship with that list you always have a way to recover.

2. The Rule of 7

It is well documented that potential prospects need to hear or see your  marketing message up to seven times before they take action and buy from
you.


Research also shows that less than 2% of sales online are made on the first exposure.


So if you don’t have a system in place to follow up with them, build trust with them and expose them further to your business you really don’t have a business.


I’m sure you’ve had the experience of prospecting people who were not yet ready to take advantage of what you were offering the first time you met them.

3.  Leverage                                Leverage in your business

Email marketing allows you to talk directly to your audience with the click of a button…


As you grow your list you have the potential to reach a lot more people and can be spreading your message to a wider audience


If you have a wider reach with your message you can have a bigger impact and help a lot more people with your business….this can have a ripple effect and spread beyond your existing subscribers.


Through email marketing  you have a chance to get to know your readers better.


You can build a relationship with them through the daily or weekly emails you send to them.


You start to build trust with your audience.


Why is that important? Because once you have earned that trust, they will gladly take you up on the offers you send them via email.


And provided you treat your list well and share great stuff, it’s sustainable. You can make offers for things they want and need over and over again.


By automating this process and using auto responders you can truly create systems and leverage those systems to grow your business.
       

4. Make More Sales & Develop Other Income Streams


Email marketing is shown to convert better than any other Boost Your Businessform of marketing and it’s the main reason why your other marketing efforts should focus on growing and expanding  your list.

The goal here is to create valuable content that will educate your audience around your subject matter.


The more value you give the more you will build trust with them. The deeper the trust the more likely they are to buy from you.


People seek out information, tips and strategies that will help them improve their lives and if you 
provide this your list will continue to grow.


When you develop this kind of trust relationship with your audience you are also in  a position to offer them other products and services that they may need..thus creating additional income streams for you in your business.


In other words, the list allows you to make a living from your online business.

5. Automation                                


Warren Buffett,  one of the richest men in the world, says it Automate your marketingbest “If you don’t find a way to make money while you sleep, you will work until you die.”


When you set up systems that work, whether you do or not, your business is constantly working for you. In order to do this one of the tools you need is an email Autoresponder service.


This is a company that stores your readers email address and other pertinent information and allows you to to set up an email response campaign to go out at frequent intervals.


These can be a weekly newsletter, frequent update emails, special offers, or a series of autoresponder messages on a specific topic. 


This constant contact allows you to get your valuable educational information in front of your prospects while building a relationship with them.


There are several reputable Autoresponder providers out there such as AWeber,  Get Response and Mail Chimp.


I personally use AWeber as I found it easy to set up and use.

In conclusion:

If you already have an online presence – be it blogging, creating video content, running an online store or growing a social media presence – you will really benefit from having a list and focusing on growing your subscriber base.


If you’re building your business offline, setting up an email list for all your potential prospects is vital.

You can get their permission to follow up with valuable content for them thereby creating and building a relationship with them.


Be prepared to start small as it takes time to build a list. As in any relationship it takes time to  develop it.


The more valuable information you can provide to your list the more effective you will be in continuing to develop the relationship and the deeper the relationships the better able you will be to make recommendations to your list and make more sales.


When I first started in my home business, I regret I didn’t understand the importance of building a list.

Like many others I let a lot of prospects go without capturing their email.

But once I understood the importance of the list and started to build it I found it to be one of the best decisions I made in my business.


The sooner you start the better and more profitable your business will be.
